FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE is a revised edition of the classic role-playing game, released for PlayStation 4. The story unfolds in Ivalice during a time of war, after the Archadian Empire has conquered the small kingdom of Dalmasca. The rightful heir to the throne, Princess Ashe, leads the resistance, and Vaan, an orphaned youth who dreams of flight, becomes her ally; together with their companions they set out to free their homeland. This version offers high-definition graphics and music, a reconstructed battle design and a revamped job system, plus new additions. It is a single-player game.

The small kingdom of Dalmasca, conquered by the Archadian Empire, is left in ruin and uncertainty. Princess Ashe, the one and only heir to the throne, devotes herself to the resistance to liberate her country. Vaan, a young man who lost his family in the war, dreams of flying freely in the skies.
