About the game

DayZ takes place after an apocalypse, where the player faces infected, dangerous wildlife, erratic weather, pitch-black nights, and other survivors. There are no checkpoints or saves, so death means losing everything and starting over. Food is scarce, so survival requires hunting, fishing, and foraging, along with crafting, building, and managing health and resources. Online, up to 60 players interact with one another, and these encounters can take many forms. Two maps are available: one covering 230 km2 with landmarks based on real-life locations, and Livonia, a 163 km2 land of swamps, abandoned hunting cabins, sawmills, deforested areas, and quarries; a hidden entrance to an underground complex lies to the south, and a friend and a flashlight are advised for the search.
