About the game

House of Ashes is the third game in The Dark Pictures Anthology, a line of cinematic branching horror titles whose events and endings depend on the player's choices. The story takes place in Iraq in 2003, where a military unit and CIA field operative Rachel King are tasked with checking a suspected underground chemical weapons facility near the Zagros Mountains. A local patrol under Sergeant Salim Othman ambushes the search party at the coordinates, and an earth tremor during the fight opens sinkholes that plunge both groups into the ruins of a buried Sumerian temple. Ancient creatures awaken in the dark and begin to hunt, so the unit must find a way through a subterranean labyrinth while weighing personal survival against cooperation with former enemies. Up to 5 players can join on one console and up to 2 online. The Curator's Cut adds scenes played from other characters' perspectives with different decisions, and it unlocks only after the main story is finished. PS4 saves can be moved to the PS5 version, though trophies are not carried over automatically.

As the conflict draws to a close a Military Unit, accompanied by CIA field operative Rachel King, is ordered to investigate a suspected underground chemical weapons facility in shadow of the Zagros Mountains. Arriving at the coordinates, the search party is ambushed by a local patrol led by Sergeant Salim Othman. During the battle, an earth tremor opens sinkholes in the ground, pitching both sides into the ruins of a buried Sumerian temple and, in the darkness beneath the Arabian Desert, something evil is awakened. Savage and unstoppable, a nest of ancient and unearthly creatures have a new prey to hunt. Horrific discoveries and impossible decisions face the Unit as they strive to navigate a subterranean labyrinth and escape the terrifying threat. Will they each prioritise their own survival, or put aside their fears and their personal rivalries to fight together as one? The Curator's Cut The Curator's cut features new scenes playable from the other characters' perspective with brand new choices and decisions to make.
