About the game
DOOM: The Dark Ages is a single-player campaign from id Software, the third entry in the modern DOOM series and a prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. Its setting is a dark and sinister medieval war against Hell that blends dark fantasy and science fiction. Players again take the role of the DOOM Slayer, who must hold back the legions of Hell and face their leader, who seeks to destroy the Slayer and become the only being that is feared. Alongside familiar tools such as the Super Shotgun, the hero gains new bone-chewing weapons, among them the versatile Shield Saw. Combat against demon hordes follows the grounded style associated with the original DOOM, while exploration leads through ruined castles, large battlefields, dark forests, ancient hellscapes and worlds beyond, where mysteries, challenges and rewards await.
