About the game
ELDEN RING takes place in the Lands Between, a vast continent where open fields and large dungeons with complex three-dimensional layouts form a connected world. The protagonist is a Tarnished whom grace guides toward the Elden Ring and the title of Elden Lord. Exploring this world means facing unknown threats, while knowledge of the terrain and its secrets can help defeat enemies and bosses. Combat is simple to learn yet has hidden depth: it requires balancing attacks and evasion, using weapons, spells and summons, and timing actions to exploit weaknesses. Appearance can be customized, and gear, items and magic can be combined to match a chosen playstyle. George R. R. Martin wrote the founding mythology, which was turned into a multilayered narrative; the goals of its characters intersect, and events can develop differently depending on the player's actions. Beyond single-player, network features include cooperative play with other Tarnished and PvP through invasions, duels and battles in the three Colosseums.
