About the game
Stronghold 2: Steam Edition is an updated version of a medieval strategy game with simulation elements in which the player runs a castle and its lands amid barons competing for power. Ruling can take different forms: holding tournaments and banquets for subjects or keeping peasants under strict control, with thieving ones punished by measures ranging from gibbets to gallows. The economy is intricate, and sieges include close combat inside castle structures. The updated version reworks the visuals and adds new maps, achievements, Steam Workshop and Steam multiplayer support, along with a digital art book, soundtrack and trading cards. Battles can be fought solo against computer-controlled opponents or online with up to eight players in Deathmatch and Kingmaker modes, where Honour is gained by title, strategy or force. An in-game map editor allows custom scenarios to be created and shared.

Steam Edition
Building on the sim gameplay of the original Stronghold, Stronghold 2 allows players to rule as they please and still conquer each skirmish. Unhappy peasants turn to crime and must be punished, rival lords can raise entire armies on their title alone and sieges must be fought tooth and nail, with close combat taking place inside castle structures! Stronghold 2 Online extends this gameplay to competitive multiplayer for up to eight players over Steam, with offline skirmish mode also available against computer-controller opponents.
