About the game
Ultros places its protagonist inside The Sarcophagus, a giant cosmic uterus drifting through space that contains an ancient demonic being called ULTROS. Caught in a black hole's eternal loop, the character repeatedly explores this world and meets its inhabitants to learn whether they are the cycle's gruesome breaker or a link from destruction to rebirth. The setting is a multifaceted alien realm teeming with life, built on science fiction and presented with an eccentric art style and a soundtrack by El Huervo, known for Hotline Miami. Mental health, life, death, and karmic cycles are explored through deep lore and environmental storytelling. Precision-driven close-quarter combat against cosmic lifeforms alternates with tending plant life in The Sarcophagus, which offers moments of peace and opens obscured paths. A loop-based mechanic returns players to key story moments, revealing secrets, unlocking areas and new abilities on a branching skill tree, and letting them master a personal fighting style. Only single-player is supported.
