About the game
The remastered HD edition of Resident Evil is set in 1998, when a special forces team arrives near Raccoon City to look into bizarre murders. A pack of blood-thirsty dogs attacks the squad, which then takes cover in a nearby mansion where the scent of death hangs heavy. Supplies are scarce, and staying alive drives the single-player campaign. The updated version reworks the visuals: resolution upgrades and non-static 3D models bring detail to the environments, post-processing effects such as Bloom filters were added, and the backgrounds were rebuilt as a mix of high-resolution static images and animated 3D models. Widescreen 16:9 is supported, with the screen scrolling so that areas cut off at the top and bottom come into view based on the character's position, and the display mode can be changed at any time during play. The audio was remastered with a higher sampling rate and surround output, and besides the original control scheme there is an alternate one where tilting the analog stick moves the character in that direction, switchable at any moment in-game.

In 1998 a special forces team is sent to investigate some bizarre murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. Upon arriving they are attacked by a pack of blood-thirsty dogs and are forced to take cover in a nearby mansion. But the scent of death hangs heavy in the air. Supplies are scarce as they struggle to stay alive.
Graphics
- More detailed graphics that retain the horror.
- The environments come alive with detail thanks to resolution upgrades and non-static 3D models.
- Post-processing effects like Bloom filters, which were not easy to do at the time of the original release, have been added to make the HD graphics even more realistic.
