About the game
Steelrising is set in an alternative Paris of the French Revolution, a city suffering under the madness of King Louis XVI and his legions of automatons. The protagonist is Aegis, a mechanical creation built by the engineer Vaucanson as the queen's bodyguard, and the fate of the revolution rests on her actions. Fights against the king's mechanical soldiers call for deadly accuracy, chaining dodges, parries, jumps and devastating attacks, while huge relentless machine bosses demand patience and skill. Over the course of the story Aegis refines her abilities and adopts different combat approaches, drawing on a wide variety of weapons and skills. Exploration of the city relies on carriages, secret passages, a detailed map, a grappling hook and a dash, which together open access to secrets across multiple levels. Historical figures such as Marie-Antoinette, Lafayette and Robespierre appear among allies and enemies with unclear motives, and the player must cut through their plotting. The game is single-player only.
