About the game
Set in Northern England five years after the Windscale nuclear disaster, Atomfall is a single-player survival-action game from Rebellion inspired by real-life events. The player explores a fictional quarantine zone with villages, cult-controlled ruins, caves and military bunkers, searching for supplies, crafting weapons and items, bartering and talking with locals, and fighting to stay alive among bizarre characters, mysticism and rogue government agencies. Because weapons and ammunition are scarce, combat alternates marksmanship with hand-to-hand fighting: managing heart rate keeps the aim steady, and saving energy allows a swing of the cricket bat to land the killer blow. The narrative is a tapestry of interwoven stories, and every choice has consequences. The world draws on science fiction, folk horror and Cold War influences, making it eerily familiar yet alien.
