About the game
Layers of Fear is a horror game by Bloober Team released in 2016 that started the series. The player takes the role of a painter striving to complete his main work. The action unfolds in his decaying home, where the surroundings shift to reflect his fading mind: memories turn into visions and rooms become nightmares. The game is set in a Victorian setting inspired by 19th-century paintings, architecture and décor, while visual and musical design complement the detailed locations and story. It is a single-player-only experience.
